Man Utd Transfers: 11 Signings Louis Van Gaal Must Make Immediately

With reports from the Daily Mail's Ian Ladyman suggesting that Dutch manager Louis van Gaal will be named as the new manager of Manchester United as early as Wednesday, it is now open season on rumours linking players to moves in and out of the club. Fans and media are now united in their singularly goal of speculating how the famous coach will atone for the mistakes made by David Moyes and his team since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in the summer, and it seems that he will be given "massive funds" to achieve a quick return to greatness, and a return to the premiere European competition of the Champions League. It seems unlikely that Van Gaal would be willing to come to Old Trafford without the promise of investment, especially with the team in relative turmoil and some players clearly on their way out - either deemed not good enough to play for the club by fans, or having decided, like Nemanja Vidic, that they would rather move on. Van Gaal will have a tough job on his hands, regardless of who he is able to attract, but his star power may well ensure that the reported transfer war chest has a significant enough pull behind it to bring top European talents in, with only a chance of Europa League football to add short-term glamour to a move.
