Marvel: Avengers Star Wants House Of M In The MCU

Someone needs to get Fox and Marvel together...

It's high time Marvel start investing in their female properties. Even though Captain Marvel is on its way as part of Phase 3 (and presumably there she will appear in one of the earlier movies to start establishing her as a presence), the treatment of Black Widow and even Scarlet Witch so far has left a little to be desired. Yes, the latter appeared first in an ensemble, so was never going to get masses of screen time, but she is an intriguing prospect for one of the more unexpected possibilities for the Marvel slate beyond Phase 3. In conversation with USA Today to promote the blu-ray release of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Elizabeth Olsen has talked about her excitement at playing the MCU's biggest current wildcard (well one of them - remember, we have to think of Vision in similar terms:
€œIt€™s a dramatic conflict within her and obviously there€™s conflict within the (Avengers) as well. I like that they didn€™t release Scarlet Witch in the promo photos for the teams €” it places her as being a wild card, and I like her having that kind of edge that people don€™t know what she€™s capable of. They can fear her because she is so incredibly powerful in a different way than the rest of the heroes for the most part. I like playing that role within the gang.€
She's loving her time as Witch, apparently, which is always nice, and has offered some vague information on what we can expect the character to be like in Captain America; Civil War. She's "coming into her own" and "starting to understand and have conflict with how she wants to use her abilities". Does that hint at the fact that Scarlet Witch is going to actually rail against what is expected of her in terms of using her powers as a government guided instrument. Having an Avenger who actually wrestles with whether they should be avenging at all sounds like exactly the kind of development that fits with the ideologies at play in Civil War too. When USA Today attempted to get Olsen to comment on whether she wanted to see the romance between Scarlet Witch and Vision that happens in the comics - introducing the MCU's first real robosexual relationship - the actor confirmed how she'd want that to happen. And more specifically which storyline it has to happen in: €œIt has to be House of M. That€™s still all I want to do, I don€™t care. I would just love to have make-believe children and have him play along with it and then just decide to destroy all mutants. That would be so fun but obviously that would never happen.€ She talks sense. House Of M would be a brilliant event on a par with Civil War (even if they're not adapting that properly), but there's an obvious issue with rights - since Fox won't be giving up X-Men any time soon (now, Fantastic Four on the other hand). Unfortunately, Fox don't need Marvel like Sony did, yet, so the tragic, brilliant story will have to wait. Or will it? Fox could simply redevelop parts of the story, and have Scarlet Witch's breakdown start to manifest itself in Civil War (it's already been suggested as one of the trigger events) before exploding in Infinity War or beyond. It would be a good story element, for sure, but it wouldn't be House Of M. So somebody needs to get Fox to the table for that, immediately.
