Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 Things That Could Prematurely End It

8. Not Following Through With Plot Lines

Marvel already have form with this, most notably with the hints towards future villains in The Incredible Hulk. The film has a suggestion that The Abomination isn€™t quite through and sees the creation of classic Hulk and Avengers villain The Leader, but neither has been picked up on. There's a sense that a number of current plotlines that could go the same way. For example, with all that€™s set to happen in Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, it€™s hard to see where the creative teams are going to fit in any further development for Bucky Barnes. If Steve Rogers is going to be removed when Chris Evans€™ contract runs out and Sebastian Stan is going to become the new face of the Captain America franchise, Bucky needs to be developed to a point where he can take on the mantle. If he isn€™t, it€™s going to be jarring and damaging for a key aspect of Marvel€™s project, and might be a blow they€™ll struggle to recover from. While these are only a couple of storylines, there are others that seem to have fallen by the wayside (e.g. Tony Stark's alcoholism). Dropping too many storylines over the course of the universe is only going to lead to additional audience dissatisfaction - something any movie franchise wants to discourage.
