Marvel Cinematic Universe: 11 Steps To Redeeming Loki

Because he's loved almost as much as Tom Hiddleston himself.

There was a time when everyone was complaining that Loki was appearing too often in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "Oh bloody hell, not him again, haven't they got any other villains?" By the time Thor: The Dark World was released, Tom Hiddleston's character had appeared in three out of the eight MCU offerings and there was a sense of "Loki for the sake of Loki" among fans of the franchise. Now, however, four more movies into the MCU, he hasn't been seen again - and there are four more movies being released before he's expected to reemerge. Fans miss him, dagnabbit! Especially since his much-anticipated cameo in 2015's Avengers: Age Of Ultron was cut from the theatrical release. Frankly, people want him back. But they're also sick of all this "villain" malarkey. That's been done with him. So let's have Loki making amends for his past atrocities once and for all. Thor: The Dark world hinted at glorious redemption for the character, only for it to be mercilessly torn away right at the end. With three appearances left in Hiddleston's contract, there's every chance it could finally happen - even if it's not something that's generally expected. Here are the eleven steps required for that to be the case.

11. Less Of The Cocky Comments

First of all, in order to embark on the road to redemption, Loki needs to stop being a jerk. It's an obvious and a simple enough request - he's proved that he's capable of being a decent character some of the time - but he should now bite the bullet and do it permanently. That means cutting out the cocky, sarcastic and scornful comments. The trickster can't get through a single conversation without letting rip with a verbal serving of burn - and it's usually directed at either Thor or Odin. If Loki is going to redeem himself once and for all, he obviously needs to change his attitude and present himself in a more genuine way. He can still be witty and funny, but he doesn't need to be a complete and utter douche about it all the time.
