The Marvel Cinematic Universe is easily one of the most ambitious undertakings in cinematic history; the organisation required to weave together several different productions into one coherent whole is not easy; just look at how DC’s continual attempts to get a Justice League movie off the ground do nothing but sputter.
Phase One of the MCU proved a huge success, with Iron Man 1 & 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America building a world that climaxed with Joss Whedon’s phenomenally successful (and simply phenomenal) superhero smash hit The Avengers.
Of course, the Thanos cameo at the end of The Avengers made it clear that the filmmakers had already been long thinking about how Phase Two of the MCU might kick off, and what direction it might take through to the third (and presumably final) phase. With the firm foundation already built, here are our predictions for what is to come, a mixture of conjecture and deduction from set images.
Here’s what we expect from the 10 next movies in the MCU…
1. Iron Man 3
Given that it releases in less than 3 months, we already know quite a bit about Iron Man 3; The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) is the primary villain, and the film appears to adopt a far darker tone than the previous films, somewhat in line with the fashionable grit that Christopher Nolan has seemingly forced everyone to employ. Still, expect all the wise-cracks and charm that Robert Downey Jr. can’t help but bring to the role. In addition to that, expect the following:
Bruce Banner cameo: how could they resist after the superb chemistry Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. had in The Avengers? Even if it’s just a brief intermission between the action, it’d be a fun scene, though of course it would instantly raise the question of why the Hulk doesn’t help his buddy out when the chips are down.
Either Pepper Potts or Happy Hogan dies. Given how rumours persist that Potts might be pregnant in part 3, and how Jon Favreau is probably looking to depart the franchise now he’s not directing (and there’s a brief image of a wounded Hogan in the new teaser), expect him to go out in a blaze of glory this time around.
Wasp may very well be introduced prior to her joining The Avengers.
The Illuminati should make an appearance in some form if they want to get the ball rolling on the rumoured Hulk banishment storyline; Reed Richards and Charles Xavier almost definitely won’t show up, so count on Doctor Strange being the likely figure to turn up if any (though he is slated for Thor 2 already).
Ant-Man cameo after the credits? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Id love to see Loki help save the day, like all hope is lost and hes the only one who can stop it all.
How you could call The Avengers phonominal or even slightly imply that the line-up films were or the future ones will be is a sickening thought. You, sir, have no clue.
T.;, why don’t you write an article about why The Avengers is overrated rather than read all of these articles that make you sick?
Most of this just sounds like a fanboy’s dream. I mean, a lot of this stuff sounds cool, but are any of these “projections” based off anything more than what you think would be cool? Odin and Thor “dying;” Thor and Cap 3; Ultron teased in Avengers 2… it all is very speculative, and aside from the Planet Hulk stuff, and the majority of the Iron Man 3 business, this is the first place I’m reading the majority of this information. I notice that you’re totally ignoring Kevin Feige’s mention that Doctor Strange would be getting a movie as part of Phase III, which as far as I know is the only film aside from Ant-Man that is actually confirmed post-Avengers 2, though it is without release date. Also, it has been stated multiple times that despite the connectivity of the MCU, Iron Man 3 will be devoid of physical appearances from the rest of the Avengers. Granted, that could just be the company trying to lead the audience astray so that we can be more excited when something does happen. However, when the use of phrases along the lines of “Iron Man is totally stranded, and can’t call his friends for help,” (paraphrased)are used, I’m keen to believe that there won’t be any Avengers in the movie.
I can’t fathom the idea that they will ever sort out the legalities of Spider-Man appearing in the Avengers. But then again, I never thought they’d be able to pull off The Avengers and here we are talking about Avengers 3.
Hey other Cristian, the Oscorp Tower from ASM was supposed to appear in the Avengers however the production team didn’t finish the design fast enough. Sony and Disney don’t care about the legalities of it because they are aware that they stand to make a pretentious amount of dough.
I hope for the final movie in the series they do Civil War and start a new team making the franchise of…” NEW AVENGERS”
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said about the use of Thanos in future films. “Clearly, there’s a purpose to us putting him in the end of [The Avengers]. We do have plans for him. I wouldn’t say we ever feel the need to rush anything one way or the other. We succeeded in Phase One because we stuck to our guns and stuck to the plan. That plan took place over many, many years and it ultimately paid off. I see Phase Two unfolding in the same way of us taking our time, us doing what’s right for each individual movie, while folding in elements that will not only build up to the culmination of Phase Two, but even Phase Three.”
I therefore think Avengers 2 will be a Masters of Evil style approach with a combination of existing villains and organisations (Hydra etc); Joss has said he wants a more personal film, not a re-hash of the first so this would fit in.
Thanos will be introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy but then be in the background from Avengers 2 onwards leading to an epic cosmic battle in Avengers 3, involving the Infinity Gauntlet.
Well
I have inside info from a meeting at marvel.
I feel that iron man 3 will go to space. dr strange will be in a after credit scene setting up an apearance in thor 2. the illumanti will consist of iron man (stark), dr strange, ant man, nick fury, and a surprise here but yes daredevil. they will banish hulk to space. Hulk does return setting up a battle in avengers 3 where we see him fight the illumanti. But he does help the avangers in the end to fight off thanos. wasp will be apart of avengers 3. captain america will have a surprise role in thor 2 when thor is on earth.
Iron man will be in guardians of the galaxy as marvel wants the appeal to bring in people who do not know guardians.
after avengers three a major hero dies setting up a new phase of a younger new avengers
i hope i dont get fired
