MCU: 10 Characters Most Likely To Die (And The Movies They'll Die In)

Captain America's last stand is coming.

If Infinity War made one thing clear, it's that we shouldn't doubt Marvel's willingness to pull the trigger on beloved characters. While the snap victims are all expected to return, heroes like Heimdall, Loki, Vision and Gamora might just be gone for good, which helps give these movies the stakes they've been lacking for quite some time.

Because of this there's a good chance that the MCU's near future will contain a lot of death, especially as we head into the universe-altering events of Infinity War's upcoming sequel, and the mostly unknown realm that is the Phase 4 film slate.

With long-serving actors' contracts presumably coming to an end, characters that appear to have out-lived their usefulness, and plenty of villains who will no doubt meet a fatal end, the bloodshed we can expect from Marvel's upcoming movies should be quite immense, in all its PG-13 glory.

Of course, Infinity War also proved that we should expect the unexpected, giving all future MCU speculation an extra-large edge of uncertainty. That being said, we're positive that this lot won't be around for much longer.

10. Thanos (Avengers 4)

Why He's Likely To Die: Currently, we don't know anything about Thanos' role in Avengers 4, other than that he has one.

It's assumed that the movie will involve all sorts of non-linear jumping around in space and time, with our heroes searching for a way to reverse that deadly genocidal snap. Should they succeed - or come close to succeeding - Thanos will probably be quite annoyed with that, and this could be how he enters the fray.

Infinity War made it clear that he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals - he even sacrificed his own daughter as a means to an end. So if the Avengers do reverse the snap, you can be damn sure that Thanos will do everything in his power to make it happen all over again, or even stop them before they can undo it in the first place.

Simply put, he's too powerful and driven to be left alive. If he's locked up, injured, or otherwise taken out of the game in a non-deadly way, he's just going to come back later and cause more trouble. Killing him is the only way to stop him for good.

Plus, while his popularity might turn him into a recurring threat, he's already reached the peak of villainy after literally destroying half the universe. What else could he possibly do after that?
