On the eve of Thor: Ragnarok's release, Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige let slip that Jeff Goldblum - who of course memorably appears in Ragnarok as Grandmaster - was originally offered a cameo in Captain America.

Goldblum was approached to play Senator Brandt, who convinces Steve to join the USO tour, but for reasons unknown he turned it down, and instead the small part went to character actor Michael Brandon.

Feige has since expressed relief that things worked out as they did, "And thank goodness, because that would have just been a small thing and instead we got to wait for the Grandmaster, which is about as amazing as a Jeff Goldblum ‘Goldblum-iness’ could be."

Well, the man's not wrong.
