MCU: 10 Marvel Characters Who Will Definitely Die In Phase 3

It's chillingly appropriate that Death is a character in Marvel's Infinity Saga story arc, because it's beginning to look rather ominous for some of even the most top-level of the MCU's characters.

If you're a Marvel cynic, you might be tempted to sneer at the very idea of the studio suddenly getting all trigger happy and killing off characters left, right and centre, but it's important to remember that the end of Phase 3 sees the culmination of the biggest comic book movie event ever. And Infinity War wouldn't exactly be much of a war if there aren't casualties, regardless of the studio in charge of it.

That's not to suggest that Kevin Feige is suddenly about to channel George RR Martin or Robert Kirkman, but it's not like Marvel haven't put characters up for the chop before, killing Coulson and Pietro, and you have to think that the more the cast of characters swells over the next few movies and original contracts come to an end, there's more chance of seeing older and less important figures killed off or retired in some destructive way. So maybe don't get too attached to everyone just yet.

Here are the 10 big characters who will probably die before the end of Phase 3...

10. Yondu

Why He Has To Die

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 is set to answer the question of Peter Quill's fatherhood with the appearance of Kurt Russell as Ego The Living Planet, and that probably spells disaster for the character who basically brought him up in his absence. In other words, Yondu is superfluous right up until the point Star-Lord realises he actually had a father all along.

The space pirate will also be joining the good guys, and nothing says dead meat character like one who sees the error of his evil ways and tries to atone. It'll be a shame too, but he's a goner.

When It'll Happen

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. Near the end - just before the climactic battle sees Star-Lord take down the big bad in a fury in response.

How He'll Die

Saving his "son" Quill, probably in the absence (or ignorance) of his real father Ego, to give Yondu that hero moment he's clearly craving by joining the good guys.
