9. Evolving Into Thanos

It's an extremely wild theory, but some fans believe that the Red Skull may have evolved over the years to actually become Thanos - and given what the franchise has done to villains like the Mandarin, it's not something that anyone should rule out completely. Exactly how the change might have taken place is open to debate. Perhaps the faulty Super Soldier Serum that Johann Schmidt exposed himself to hadn't finished taking effect on his body. Perhaps some cosmic radiation in the distant cosmos triggered a gruesome transformation in him. Either way, it's an intriguing theory and the two characters' thirst for power is certainly similar enough that they could actually turn out to be one and the same.
