MCU: 14 Things You Learn Rewatching Guardians Of The Galaxy
14. Guardians 2 Isn't Better, But Does Strengthen Vol. 1
Dropping last year but set just a few months after the first, Guardians Vol. 2 picked up on the plot thread of Peter's father and revealed him to be... Kurt Russell.
The second film wasn't quite as fun or fresh as the first, but the way it deepens Peter's relationship with Yondu and the reveals that come from Ego are crucial to the character, and knowing them makes Guardians 1 an even better experience.
It's particularly the case in the Earth-set opening, because knowing how and why Ego used Meredith Quill makes her death, and calling him an angel, way more tragic and devastating. It's also more affecting to watch the scenes between Star-Lord and Yondu this time around, because of how much stronger and more real their relationship feels.
