MCU: Could Crossbones Be Coming Back From The Dead?!

Well, we didn't actually see a body...

If there's one thing you should know to expect from comic book movie deaths, it's that they don't actually last. Sure, villains and side characters can die permanently, but for the most part, if someone with a big name (whether actor or character) bites the dust, they're probably going to "surprisingly" come back, no matter how violent their death.

We might be able to add Crossbones to that list now too, as Frank Grillo may have let slip that he's coming back, despite the fact that he was exploded to bits at the start of Captain America: Civil War. Or maybe he actually wasn't.

In conversation with Forbes, Grillo talked about working in a big franchise (specifically, The Purge movies) and mentioned enjoying his time in the MCU. He also said something that will have pricked up the ears of Crossbones fans:

“It’s great to be part of Marvel too, and I have three boys who are fanatical about Marvel, and I was surprised not too long ago because there is some news that nobody knows yet, to do with my character, that’s going to be really interesting and I’m excited about that.”

This follows on from Grillo's previous teasing that his character might not be dead (since we didn't actually get to see a body) and seems to be a change in his mentality, as he said publicly he was done with the MCU when he wasn't invited to the Civil War premiere.

This could suggest that Thanos will either bring back some characters from the dead, or we'll see a reset of reality that fundamentally changes some major incidents. Or, we could be set to see another example of the power of the Infinity Stones to manipulate the minds of the heroes - perhaps this time turning Scarlet Witch's own powers on her to haunt her.

Time will tell.
