MCU: Every Captain America Appearance Ranked Worst To Best

6. Avengers: Infinity War

Look, this year's massive Avengers film was a staggering accomplishment, one that was worth years of buildup, and you're probably wondering why it's so low on this list. Well, that's simple: Infinity War's juggling of so many characters meant that a few had to take a bit of a backseat so that others, like Thor and Thanos, could take the real spotlight, Cap included.

Were this a list about the quality of the films themselves, there's no doubt that Infinity War would be higher, but it's not, as we're talking solely about Cap's appearances. In the film, he has a handful of standout moments, from his crowd-pleasing, shadowy arrival at the train station to his introduction to Groot to his incredibly tense attempt to single-handedly hold back Thanos, and his unwillingness to trade Vision's life no matter what paralleled well with Thanos' willingness to sacrifice Gamora to achieve his goals, but for the most part, he was a secondary player.

He'll undoubtedly be back in the forefront in Avengers 4, but as it stands, Infinity War didn't really push his arc forward from where Civil War had left him, holding off his inevitable (and awkward) reunion with Tony Stark due to the bigger issues at hand. He still got time to shine, but on a larger scale, the rest of the films on this list simply had the benefit of giving him more to do and having more time to explore his character, which is why his appearance in Infinity War is only No. 6.
