MCU Rumour: Norman Osborn Is Coming To Phase 4

Finally, Spider-Man's big villain could be set to debut...

It looks like we might have some indication of the direction Marvel Studios intend to take to replace Thanos in the MCU. Now that old purple head has bowed out, there's a bit of a vacuum for a marquee villain, which has also been exacerbated by Loki's death too. Naturally, that led to speculation of someone like Galactus or Annihilus coming, or the Skrulls before Captain Marvel changed the game for that particular set of characters.

But now it seems that Norman Osborn - the Green Goblin himself - might be the one in Marvel's crosshairs.

According to a rumour from Geeks Worldwide (formerly Omega Underground), Marvel have put together a casting call with a character breakdown for someone called "The Benefactor," which they speculate is a code name. The breakdown calls the character a “mysterious and nefarious benefactor” and the casting call suggests they're looking for a male actor, preferably Caucasian, aged between 40 and 60 and will need to be available to shoot sometime this year in Atlanta.

We've heard about The Benefactor before, of course, as Ant-Man And The Wasp's Sonny Burch's boss was known as that and it would make sense that it's the same character. It would also be a nice way of tying Ant-Man and Spider-Man together, which everyone with half a brain should want.

Given the filming timeline, it's unlikely we'll see the character in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but more filming in Atlanta suggests more Marvel projects than have been announced must be in the works already.
