There's no ego in playing Erik Killmonger.

Hot off the announcement that he's playing Erik Killmonger for Black Panther, Michael B Jordan spoke on camera with MTV News' Josh Horowitz to discuss how he was cast, his feelings on playing a villain and on the possibility of Creed 2.

Jordan revealed that, as usual with Ryan Coogler, he and the director were already talking about their next project while filming Creed, so it seems he was in the frame for the job a while before it was ever announced. That's not surprising considering he seems to be something of a talisman for the director.

He also talked about the brave move of becoming a villain for the MCU when it could be deemed dangerous at this stage of his career. He says he felt safe taking those sorts of risks with Coogler, which obviously helped.

Jordan was also asked about the status of Creed 2, for which he says there are no updates currently, other than the fact that it's something they definitely see as happening, it's just a matter of working out when. Good news, that: as long as they can find a compelling story to bring him back that doesn't rely on trotting out the same implausible change from underdog to God that happened between Rocky and Rocky II.
