9. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
After the surprisingly entertaining Transformers hit big at the box office, Bay wasted no time on assembling a sequel, and it really shows in the final product quite how rushed and thoughtless the film is. Revenge of the Fallen boasts some cracking visuals and fun set-pieces, but that's about it, really. Everything that dares to be dialogue or character-related is dead on arrival, and the apparent reason for this is the infamous writers' strike of 2007-2008, which left the film's scribes struggling to quickly cobble together a script in its wake, the result of which was this hodge-podge. The narrative includes some woefully offensive black gangster robot caricatures - who speak in Ebonics and were dutifully binned for the third film after the backlash - and simply, there's
way too much downtime mid-film when s*** should start getting blown up. If there's one thing Bay should be able to get right, it's the pyrotechnics, yet even they didn't go off without a hitch here.
