The story follows an academic researcher who opens a portal into a parallel universe and makes contact with his double in order to stop an apocalypse foreseen by the ancient Mayans. It would seem that the movie is dropping the subtitle, and is only going to be called
2012, which personally I'm not a fan of because it dates a movie very quickly. This does sound like a fun project, a lot like
Stargate (which I actually have a small fondness for) but then of course it's Michael Bay, and you have to think again. Michael Bay is not a talented director. Yes he is COMPETENT at directing FUN but HOLLOW action movies like
Bad Boys and
The Rock... He tried to do a romantic war drama with
Pearl Harbor - HE ROYALLY FAILED, A DISASTER He tried to do a clever sci-fi movie but got bored and delivered a contradictry bad action movie which has no worth whatsoever. I'm talking about
The Island - FAILED He is going to try and make a comic book movie with
The Transformers but from the looks of things, he has gone the way of The Island and made it nonsense action after action with no heart - HE IS GOING TO FAIL AGAIN If it's not an out and out action movie, then personally I don't think he can get away with his style of directing, and if I was the author of this potentially great science fiction flick, I would seriously think again about letting Bay run wild with it. Michael Bay was never meant to be anything more than an action film director, just like
Steven Seagal was never meant to be in serious drama's. It's just the way it is, and for all you Transformers fans.... don't be blinded by your desire to see your favourite franchise on screen. You know as well as I, that Bay is incapable of treating it with respect. source -
