Morena Baccarin Is Copycat In Deadpool

Firefly and Gotham actress joins the X-Men spin-off.

Morena Deadpool In their story on Firefly and Gotham's Morena Baccarin joining the upcoming Deadpool movie, Heat Vision say that the character "grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face." That marks her out as Vanessa Carlysle, I believe. Carlysle is definitely a big part of the two screenplay drafts I read, and Baccarin seems like a good fit for the part. She's also age-suitable for Ryan Reynolds - he's just three years or so older. Shame that the script doesn't give the character more to do. In the comics, Carlysle was also known as Copycat, and was a mutant shape shifter with blue skin. None of that seems to apply in the film, especially not the blue skin. I suppose she could reveal herself as a shape shifter later in the series - if this ever becomes a series - but there's no trace of it in anything I've heard about the film to date. There are plenty of roles still to be cast and so I dare say we'll hear a lot more about Deadpool in the coming days and weeks. It's not long until cameras start rolling, and both UK and US audiences can look forward to seeing the film on screen on February 12th 2016.
