Mostow to direct "Sub-Mariner"

396px-Avengers84.jpgTerminator 3 director Jonathan Mostow has been hired to re-write and direct the movie adaptation of the comic book character Sub-Mariner. The character is one of the earliest superheroes in the Marvel Universe. The scoop from Coming Soon... "The comic, created by cartoonist Bill Everett in April 1939, centers on a young man who discovers he's actually a descendant from the long-lost kingdom of Atlantis. He turns out to be the key man in a brewing war between the underwater world and our own". I'm a big comic fan, although I'm more of a DC guy than a Marvel guy so i don't really know much about this character but he does sound similar to Aquaman. Like it or not, the success of comic book movies in recent years has meant that we are subjected to lesser known characters getting their own movie. As long the quality is kept at a good standard though, i'm all for it! source - variety, coming soon
