This week Marvel Studios head honcho, Kevin Feige, announced that plans were in the works for a Ms. Marvel movie. Details on when the film may come to realisation have not been confirmed but that hasn't stopped some getting excited. One such excitable fan is none other than Rogue One's Riz Ahmed.
The actor recently took to Twitter to show his interest in penning a script, even going as far to throw in a wish list of famous names to help him. Here's what Ahmed had to say:
It didn't take long for Mindy Kaling to respond to Ahmed's call to arms. The Indian-American actress took to Twitter to voice her support for the idea and reveal the fact that she is a lifelong fan of the comic-book character:
The Ms.Marvel story focuses on a Pakistani-American girl named Kamala Khan, who discovers she is an inhuman, thus meaning she has superhuman abilities. The character first appeared in a Captain Marvel comic before getting her own solo title making her the first Muslim character to headline her own comic.
If all of the names mentioned do somehow manage to board the project it would present a team of diverse writers with a first hand experience of being Muslim in the west. Given Marvel's history of recruiting the perfect talent for their films it is not beyond the stretch of imagination to see them at least considering Ahmed's proposal.
