Naomi Watts As Princess Diana in Caught in Flight Biopic - First Look

She's a dead ringer for the former Princess of Wales in Oliver Hirschbiegel's now filming biopic.

Naomi Watts has been spotted in her full Diana, Princess of Wales garb, out filming Oliver Hirschbiegel's new biopic Caught in Flight. The set images above come from the location shooting in Croatia and is our first look at Watts in her most highly controversial film role to date but one she physically, and talent wise is obviously perfectly suited to. There's more images in our gallery at the foot of the article... Caught in Flight focuses on the post-Charles divorce years from 1995 and up to Diana€™s death in 1997 and her €˜secret affair€™ with Dr. Hasnat Khan, regarded by some to be the true €˜love of her life€™. The relationship came before she dated Dodi Fayed, and some speculate (as they do about all aspects of her life) that she rebounded with the son of the billionaire as a way to make Hasnat jealous as she was devastated their relationship ended so abruptly. The biopic comes from Ecosse Films and the official synopsis on the film is this;
The film is a compelling portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales during the last two years of her life. It charts how finding true personal happiness for the first time allowed her to achieve her defining successes evolving into a major international campaigner and humanitarian.
Oscar nominee Watts replaced the originally cast Jessica Chastain when the Tree of Life actress pulled out over the pressures of playing such an iconic, late figure, whose later life was so public and controversial. Written by The Libertine scribe Steven Jeffreys, Caught in Flight is German filmmaker Oliver Hirschbiegel's latest film. He is of course no stranger to controversial biopics having made the definitive portrayal of Adolf Hitler on screen with Downfall. Jeffreys€™ script reportedly portrays the former Princess Royal €œas a damaged person who stalks the doctor after he ends the affair€ and she is €œnot cast in a particularly favorable light€. There's been very little official word on the film and quite frankly we weren't even aware that it had even begun filming. Hopefully there will be some light shed soon on which actors are portraying other roles in the film and what the proposed release date is.
