New LARA CROFT Movie Is A Reboot... Yes, We Know This Already

We've only known this information for six months but it's making the rounds again today.

We've known for six months that the new Lara Croft movie that GK Films tasked the writing duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man, Cowboys & Aliens) with will be an origin movie but for some reason, further confirmation that it will be a 'Batman Begins' style reboot is making the rounds today. I guess it must be a slow news day. Here's the new quotes from King that tell us what we already know;
"Listen, the box office, they weren't disasters but I find it interesting that the story that we're telling is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece. It does have a lot of really great characters, but it's a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it's something very different. I've not really done a movie like that before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we're going to give it a shot."
So hopefully for the final time, the news is that the new Lara Croft movie is actually telling us the untold story of how she became the female equilivant of Indiana Jones and they've smartly chose Fergus and Ostby, who came up with Tony Stark's big screen origin to work out how she becomes the hero she does. Attention then will soon turn to which young actress will be the new Lara Croft. We picked 8 potential candidates previously and my personal favourite choice was Scarlett Johansson but I wouldn't expect to start hearing any solid casting lists drawn up until next year. The plan back in May was for a 2013 release so I bet Fergus/Ostby have until the end of the year to turn in their script with filming to take place next summer.
