As well as confirming that The Get Down's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be joining Patrick Wilson's Ocean Master to play the villainous Black Manta in Aquaman, THR are reporting that Nicole Kidman is in talks to join the film to play Aquaman's mother.

Presumably this means his birth mother Atlanna, as opposed to Porm the Queen of the dolphins who takes him in and rears him as her own child. Because otherwise, that's going to be one hell of a weird film.

Kidman has of course already played a DC role, in Batman Forever, and she was linked with a return to the franchise for Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman, though that didn't come off when she had to leave the project over scheduling conflicts.

The cast is really shaping up with Kidman potentially joining Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Amber Heard and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and hopefully Wan can deliver on the promise to make a comic book movie with horror elements that actually makes Aquaman cool.
