Oscars 2013 Live: Skyfall & Zero Dark Thirty TIE For Sound Editing

Skyfall In a fairly unprecedented move, the Oscar for Best Sound Editing was somehow shared between Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty, seemingly ignoring the entire concept of an awards ceremony and the agenda to pick an actual winner. Though the award is still notable for being the first Oscar won (albeit shared) by a James Bond film since the 60s, the very idea of two films sharing will have frustrated a lot of watchers. Perhaps this was just the Academy's way of throwing Skyfall a bone in the year they chose to celebrate Bond (despite fairly obviously hating the franchise over the majority of its history.) Elsewhere Les Miserables won the Oscar for Best Sound Mixing, while Michael Haneke's Amour walked away with Best Foreign Language Film, to the collected surprise of absolutely nobody. A great film, if not exactly one to watch to brighten up your day. What do you think of this tie? Should the Academy have decided on an outright winner? Share your thoughts below.
