Oscars 2014: 10 Wins That Would Make This Year's Oscars Worth Watching

10. Inside Llewyn Davis Wins Sound Mixing

OK, so perhaps you're thinking that this category is too small to make anything exciting, or at least making only the ardent fans actually care, but I'd disagree. On the day of the nominations, one of the films that was snubbed the harshest was critical darling and all-around fantastic film Inside Llewyn Davis. It received a measly two nominations, the same amount received by The Lone Ranger and just one more than Jackass: Bad Grandpa. Yeah. Not only is this movie one of the best of last year, but ever since it premiered at Cannes (where it won the Grand Jury Prize by the way,) those who've seen it have been singing its praises, going on about the cat and making their anger heard on the morning of the nominations. If Llewyn Davis has a snowball's chance to walk away with anything it would be for its sound mixing because Cinematography is already sewn up. While pitted against the big budgets of its fellow competitor's Gravity, Captain Phillips and The Hobbit, Llewyn Davis has history on its side because films with live singing have faired quite well in this category regardless of the competition (Les Miserables, Dreamgirls, Ray, Chicago..) It would be a small victory but one that would feel so satisfying.
