Oscars: Every Best Picture Winner Ever Ranked From Worst To Best

1. The Godfather Part II (1974)

The Godfather Part 2 Al Pacino

When discussing Best Picture winners, is there any bigger debate than "Which Godfather movie is better?" The only sequel to a Best Picture winner to also win Best Picture, Francis Ford Coppola's peerless crime classic came just two years after his original masterpiece and somehow managed to better it (though feel free to disagree).

With a more emotional narrative and devastating payoff than the first film, not to mention a deeply involving dive into Vito Corleone's earlier life - marked by a brilliant Robert De Niro performance - it is very much the height of filmmaking craft and the impossibly high bar set for every Best Picture winner that followed.

All that and decisively prevailing in a year where it was up against Chinatown and The Conversation. Not bad at all for the Academy's best-ever pick.

How would you rank the Best Picture winners? Disagree with our rankings? Shout it out in the comments!
