Patrick Fugit joins WE BOUGHT A ZOO, Bill Nighy rumoured, clarification on cast

Here's a quick update on Cameron Crowe's new picture We Bought A Zoo which we heard over the weekend had added Scarlett Johansson as Matt Damon's dying wife. It seems that wasn't entirely true - Mike Fleming now clarifies that Johansson is instead playing Kelly, the head keeper of the broken down Zoo that Damon relocates his family too upon hearing the news that his wife is terminally sick and presumably the woman Damon will connect with whilst in mourning. Joining the cast this week is Patrick Fugit (the now grown-up lead of Crowe's marvelous Almost Famous) and Bleeding Cool are reporting that there's some talk of Bill Nighy appearing as an old zoo worker. There's also an update on Elle Fanning who we know is playing Lily;
€œa 13-year old who works at the zoo€™s restaurant, even though she€™s too young to work legally. She lives on the property, and her only parental figure seems to be Kelly, from whom Lily learns to be at ease with the animals. The young girl is immediately fascinated by the son of the zoo€™s new owner, and she becomes very flirtatious€
Flirtatious at 13? We know Colin Ford is playing Damon's son, Maggie Elizabeth Jones his younger daughter and Thomas Haden Church is Damon's older brother. Production begins in March, for a Dec 23rd, 2011 release. I spoke pretty in depth about my feelings on the project HERE.
