Pierce Brosnan A Long Way Down Pierce Brosnan returns to our screens this weekend in A Long Way Down, a dark comedy based loosely on the novel by Nick Hornby (About a Boy). Set on New Year's Eve, the film features four characters who meet on a London rooftop, each of them intending to commit suicide. Directed by Luc Besson protégé Pascal Chaumeil, the film could be just the hit that Brosnan could do with late in his career. It's fair to say that none of the six actors to date who have played James Bond have gone on to sustain those levels of public prominence (though with Daniel Craig it is perhaps too early to say). Some, like George Lazenby and Roger Moore, have little by little eschewed the film business and diversified their interests; others, like Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton, have taken on work that deliberately distanced them from 007. Brosnan's post-Bond career falls into the latter camp, and while he's had some stirring successes along the way, he's also done some films that have left us decidely shaken. With this in mind, here is a look back at the highs and lows of Brosnan's illustrious career both in and out of that famous tux. Panic not, there will be plenty of Bond along the way - and if you read my recent article on the Bond series, you'll have a fair idea of what's coming.
