Pierce Brosnan joins Abba musical Mamma Mia!

27.jpgPierce Brosnan has joined the already cast Meryl Streep in the film adaptation of the hit musical Mamma Mia! (it officially has a ! attached to it's title), with shooting on the flick to begin in June in London and Greece. Who knew Brosnan could actually sing? Apparently the actor showed off his vocal talents for the indie drama Evelyn which I haven't seen and was a stage singer early in his career. More info from Variety... Brosnan will play Sam, one of three men summoned to a Greek isle by a young woman who believes one of them is her father. Brosnan spoke of his unexpected career move with the trade... "I said yes right away because it meant working with Meryl Streep...Secondly, I saw the show with my family in London, and found it just so wonderfully happy and joyful, and so pitched in time forever in the 1970s. What a kick in the pants, to be able to go off and spend time with Meryl on some Greek island, singing ABBA songs."Phyllida Lloyd, the director of the stage musical which has now surpassed $2 billion in ticket sales since it opened in 1999, will make her feature movie debut with helming the flick. I have no interest in this film at all, but I have a feeling it's going to be huge and make a ton of money. Brosnan is a strange choice though, he's hardly marketable these days but who knows? source - variety
