Power Rangers Reboot To Get Project Almanac Director

From a script by X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

Power Rangers Dean Israelite's Project Almanac finally received a belated release in the first few months of this year, and allowed a little sunlight for this neophyte director's career. According to The Wrap, he's been called in to discuss plenty of different geek and franchise pictures, but has been holding off for something he feels personally invested in. My mind is a little boggled by the fact that he's chosen The Power Rangers. This is the project that has a special place in his heart? At least we can make a good guess at his approximate age. I've tried to find out what this new Power Rangers will be all about but, so far, have come up empty handed. Very possibly because it won't be about anything. I mean, it's the Power Rangers. The script for this new film has been written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz who contributed drafts to Thor, X-Men: First Class and, perhaps more effectively, TV's Sarah Connor Chronicles and Fringe. They seem like good guys caught up in the middle strata of Hollywood's neverending nostalgia churn. Quite what happens next for the Power Rangers is anybody's guess but I bet we'll be seeing a lot of casting stories in the coming weeks
