Predicting 20 Highest Grossing Movies Of 2018

20. Mowgli ($440 Million)

Andy Serkis Jungle Book
Warner Bros.

Release Date: October 19

Though Andy Serkis' Jungle Book adaptation is going to suffer immensely from the success of 2016's Jon Favreau-directed The Jungle Book (which grossed an astonishing $966.6 million worldwide), it's still likely that the all-star cast (namely Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch and Cate Blanchett) and the sheer wide appeal of the original tale will make Mowgli a decent success.

The film has been constantly delayed (shooting started over 3 years ago) and its title has changed numerous times, clearly in an attempt to create some measure of distance from the Disney version.

Some audiences will inevitably be turned off by the sheer movie's existence no matter how good it might look, but as director and lead, Serkis is too skilled at performance capture to root entirely against this, and a lack of direct competition in October should help it out.
