Predicting The 10 Biggest Box Office Bombs Of 2019

2. Chaos Walking

Budget: $130 million (estimated)

Box Office Prediction: $220 million (projected $40 million loss)

The young-adult bubble has clearly burst, but that isn't stopping Doug Liman from adapting Patrick Ness's 2008 novel The Knife of Never Letting Go with Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley in the lead roles.

This has all the hallmarks of an easy dud: a generic fantasy premise starring two of-the-moment young actors who may or may not have palpable chemistry.

The budget is reported to be in the vicinity of $125 million, though impending re-shoots may push it even higher.

Plus, the fact that Lionsgate still hasn't taken its March 1 release date off the slate despite a) no trailer having been released and b) the re-shoots not taking place until next month, suggests they've lost interest in it already.

Expect Chaos Walking to be quietly dumped later in the year and make only a mild dent with audiences off the back of Holland and Ridley.
