Prometheus & 15 Other Movies That Didn't Live Up To The Hype

11. Godzilla (1998)

As a kid, when I first saw the trailer for Roland Emmerich's re-imagining of the classic lizard, I counted the days till I could witness Godzilla in all it's CGI glory. It looked like Jurassic Park, but BIGGER!!! Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear indeed...Bad acting, bad direction, and an even worse script, and then before it could get any worse, those damn baby Godzilla raptor-Jurassic Park- ripoff things showed up. For the love of God. The only film where I've rooted for the monster to win. Destroy the whole thing, crush everybody, please!

10. Planet of the Apes (2001)

Tim Burton was on a roll before he made this. The sheer thought of the gothic auteur reinventing the Planet of the Apes saga was something to truly to be excited about. He'd already invented Batman and now he was turning his attention to another classic franchise. It was all set to be one of the biggest films of 2001. Instead what we got was Marky Mark running around in some weird get-up, along with the charisma vacuum that is Estella Warren a few other forgotten dull ass human types, culminating in a bizarre twist that can only be described as one of the most confusing twists in history. The only saving grace being Rick Baker's astonishing make-up design and Tim Roth's brilliantly wild General Thade. Thankfully they decided against a sequel to this and just opted for the reboot instead. Click "next" below to read the next part...
