Prometheus 2: 8 Fan Theories For What To Expect

7. It Could Be Revealed That - Above All - The Engineers Fear The Human Race

Another theory that could be explored in Prometheus 2 concerns the Engineers, strange and enigmatic creatures that are purported to have "created" the human race. This particularly theory denotes that, above all, the Engineers actually fear human beings and view them as something akin to the ultimate weapon - that they regret giving them life because they are essentially the ultimate evil. Think on it: human beings swarm and multiple and destroy... and then they move on, repeating the cycle over and over again. In the eyes of the Engineers, it's perfectly possible that they view the human race as a mistake; something that will doom the universe unless they are destroyed. It's not out of hate that the Engineers wish to destroy them (i.e. Elizabeth Shaw), but out of necessity. It's essential to eradicate them to ensure survival. At least, that's what this particular theory suggests that Prometheus 2 will explore; the only evidence for it, really, though, is the ambiguity of the Engineers themselves, and the belief that there must be a more complex scheme at work - one that we were yet to scrape the surface of in the relatively confusing motion picture that was the original Prometheus.
