Quentin Tarantino: Definitive Guide To Homages, Influences And References

4. Feet

Tarantino's apparent fetish for feet has become a keen cinematic talking point - and looking back at his large body of work, it isn't hard to see why: bare feet are everywhere!

In Pulp Fiction, Mia walks across carpet and presses her foot towards the camera; in Jackie Brown, Melanie's feet (complete with toe rings) are treated to a few of their own shots; in Kill Bill, the bride's bare feet are framed in close-up on at least three occassions; in Death Proof, the film's opening shot is of a character's feet on the dashboard, and later, Stuntman Mike touches a character's bare foot while she's sleeping. In the Tarantino-penned From Dusk Till Dawn, Tarantino himself (playing Richie Gecko) gets Salma Hayek's bare foot jammed in his mouth. Dream come true or what?
