Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight: 10 Things You Need To Know

10. It's Another Western

It seemed like Tarantino had been circling doing a Western for a while, incorporating themes, shots and wholesale character lifts from his favourite cowboy movies in everything from True Romance to Kill Bill. Django Unchained was his first actual Western, though, riffing on the established spaghetti western hero Django (albeit turning him into Jamie Foxx). Once the film had wrapped and was gearing up for release, the director was unequivocal about what his next project would be. €œI had so much fun doing Django, and I love westerns so much that after I taught myself how to make one, it€™s like €˜OK! Let me make another one now that I know what I€™m doing,'€ he said. So there you go: The Hateful Eight is another Western, now that Quentin Tarantino €œknows what he's doing€ with the genre. Considering how fun Django Unchained was, that bodes very well for The Hateful Eight.
