Ranking April 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

Furious 7 vastly exceeded expectations, but it's still not quite Avengers: Age of Ultron...

After three months of relatively mediocre showings, April is where things always get interesting on the movie calendar: it's when the studios start pulling out their big guns and heavy hitters in the quest for box office glory. Though April 2015 has also featured at least one of the very worst films of the year, it's also played host to two terrifically entertaining blockbusters...unless you live in the U.S., in which case you'll need to wait a week for Avengers: Age of Ultron (sorry). With Furious 7 dominating the box office, it's not too surprising that the cinematic slate has been full of counter-programming for most of April: comedies, romances and dramas that wouldn't be directly competing with it. Some of these efforts (one horror movie in particular) proved a pleasant surprise, even if a number of them also fell by the wayside, destined to be forgotten within weeks. April has served as a reminder that Simon Pegg needs to stick to supporting roles, people still like watching Kevin James fall over, and child murderers don't light up the box office. As for what's coming next month, it's all about Arnie's zombie film Maggie, Mad Max: Fury Road, Pitch Perfect 2, Tomorrowland, the Poltergeist remake and San Andreas. Here are April 2015's movies ranked from worst to best...
