Box Office: Angelina Jolie's $24 million war movie went straight-to-Netflix, and it's safe to say they paid a pretty penny to secure its exclusivity on the platform.

Verdict: Though Jolie's film is prone to a few directorial missteps, overall it's every bit the visceral and affecting war story you would hope for, largely thanks to young Sareum Srey Moch's jaw-droppingly good performance, and Anthony Dod Mantle's eye-wateringly gorgeous cinematography.

Jolie overplays some of the more harrowing and emotional moments to the point that it's distracting, but when she reins things in and keeps it a tight examination of innocence lost, this is a brutally unsettling and bracingly effective film.
