(Real) George Lucas Shares (Fake) Lost Darth Vader Auditions

Just how close did we get to Angela Lansbury as Darth Vader?

James Earl Jones Darth Vader I was going to say that George Lucas doesn't show his humorous side so often but he's so utterly deadpan in this video that maybe I've misread the man and he's actually taking the mickey all of the time. That would certainly explain a few things. Explain, but not exactly excuse. Now, this clip, which comes from Vulture, was apparently screened as part of the New York Drama League's feteing of James Earl Jones. What better way to celebrate that fine actor that than demonstrate how completely preposterous the Darth Vader dialogue sounds coming out of anybody else's mouth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNoh7KA994A Star Wars: The Force Awakens will do well to find a villainous presence one half as commanding as the Jones-Dave Prowse combo. Lucas might have gotten a lot of things wrong, but the pairing of the Green Cross Code man and Lt. Lothar Zogg was not one of them. Another side pleasure in this video is seeing who Lucas turns to for help with a skit like this - that is, presuming these guys all came from his address book and not the big rolodex at the league. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will reach cinemas all around the world on December 18th. George Lucas appears to have had very little involvement, if any. Your reaction to that fact may vary.
