RED director circling Ryan Reynolds' cop in hell movie R.I.P.D.

The LA. Times reports that director Robert Schwentke (Red, Flightplan) is circling R.I.P.D. - Universal's adaptation of Dark Horse's graphic novel that has Ryan Reynolds attached to lead. Yeah, that's Reynolds of Green Lantern/Deadpool fame who's got yet another comic book movie in the works, but when can this one ever possibly film? R.I.P.D. stands for 'Rest In Peace Department' and the heavy special effects driven movie revolves around two cops (well one actually a centuries dead gunslinger) who govern the underworld, a vision of Hell basically. It'll be a PG-13 buddy/action comedy that's likely to be Lethal Weapon meets Ghostbusters, I guess. McG dropped the project recently when it became obvious Reynolds was never likely to make the movie, so count us surprised another director is circling so soon. Universal want to film next summer but with Deadpool and Green Lantern 2 - how's it even possible? RIPD is a fitting title given the situation here.
