RUMOUR: The Plot Of Ben Affleck's Batman Stand-Alone Movie Revealed

We may be going under the Red Hood.

The DC Extended Universe movie I'm most looking forward to by a long way is the stand-alone Batman movie. Why? Because while it may be on some shaky ground, it looks to be a Ben Affleck picture through-and-though; he's starring as the Caped Crusader (one of the few elements of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice I'm actually looking forward to seeing), as well as being set to direct and co-write along with Geoff Johns. People may have baulked at first when Affleck became Bruce Wayne, but few people will object to him behind the camera. And now we have another reason to be excited - according to JoBlo, the film will be focusing heavily on the Red Hood, most likely loosely adapting the Death In The Family and Under The Red Hood arc, which saw Robin (Jason Todd vintage) beaten to "death" by the Joker, only to return decades later to menace Batman. It's a great story that goes personal to Batman and allows for some reflective mirroring, and will no doubt fit the tone of the wider franchise. In fact, it's already been seeded in the DCEU - a Robin suit with scrawled Joker handwriting hangs in the Batcave in Batman V Superman, homaging the comic event. The only real mark on it is that it's rather close to the events in Batman: Arkham Knight, which may make it repetitive for some fans, although that's really only a minor concern. Another big thing to take from this is that if Todd does indeed become the Red Hood, then it means that fan theory of Jared Leto's Joker being Robin-gone-bad are totally unfounded. Which is probably for the best. Batman is expected to be released in 2019.
