Russos Dish More Details On Captain America: Civil War; Confirm Aunt May

Scale mail suit, aww yeah!

A video interview with sibling directors Joe and Anthony Russo has surfaced online where we glean a bit more information from next year's Captain America: Civil War. There are some interesting asides, like how they view Cap and Widow's relationship as more of a brother-sister vibe ("I think you'll see that again in Civil War.") The juiciest tidbits are in regards to Cap's final costume in the film, which you may have glimpsed from promotional artwork, and Peter Parker/Spider-Man's involvement in the film. On Cap's 'scale mail' costume making an appearance, a grinning Anthony Russo said:
"It is a new costume. We were trying to pull forward the work that we had done in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Cap. So, the innovations that we made to his costume in that form are very much the tonal texture that we are pulling forward. Civil War is very much connected and rooted in The Winter Soldier. So, as far as the specifics of the costume, we don€™t want to give too much away, but it is a new costume slightly different from what you€™ve seen before."
ComicBookMovie are suggesting that this would be a costume more in line with the classic version from the comics, specifically the one that Cap sports in Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's original Civil War comic. As for Spider-Man, we definitely consider this confirmation of Aunt May's (Marisa Tomei) appearance in the film:
"Sometimes there€™s an old-fashioned patina to the tone of who Spider-Man is. We wanted to think about who is Spider-Man today if he€™s living in Queens, what€™s the texture of his life like, what€™s the texture of his relationship with his aunt who lives with him. How can we make the relationship and character very contemporary? That€™s our goal with the character."
Realistically, Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Aunt May will probably only be in the film for ten minutes (if that), as it's already jam-packed as it is. So I don't want fans getting their hopes up that Spidey's going to do anything beyond maybe one crowd-pleasing WTF moment... which we as fans are probably all completely fine with.

Captain America: Civil War is released in the UK on 29th April 2016 and in the US on 6th May.
