Second helping of "The Black Dahlia"

black_dahlia.jpgNew Line Cinema have bought the rights to bring another movie to the screen about the famous black dahlia hollywood scandal. They have acquired the screen rights to "Black Dahlia Avenger", a novel about the investigation by L.A. detective Steve Hodel. Here is the scoop from Dark Horizons... "Hodel, on a quest to discover who his father really was, came up with a picture of a brilliant, charming, Hannibal Lecter-like villain he believes may have killed a dozen people including aspiring actress Elizabeth Short who was found cut in half and posed in a bizarre manner". This differs from the soon to be released Brian De Palma adaptation of the James Ellroy novel, in that De Palma's movie tells the story in real time, whilst this movie will look at the investigation into the matter. I'm looking forward to De Palma's version. I'm always up for a film noir/detective story, and any movie with Scarlett Johansson in becomes a must see! source - variety, dark horizons
