Sin City: A Dame To Kill For - 15 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

Cameos, in-universe references and The Simpsons? Wait.. what?

Quite whether you were ever as excited by the much-delayed arrival of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is probably a matter for debate, but Robert Rodriguez's hyper-stylised, seriously cool sequel/prequel has more than enough to reward fans who are still ardently attracted to the franchise. Though the aesthetic shtick could have worn a little thin, the embracing of 3D technology and some deliriously bold creative choices more than make up for the fact that at times the film misses its beats completely, including fudging some of the best elements of its predecessor. It's a little too silly, and a little too blatant to ever really be considered in the same terms as that movie - which was arguably one of the most impressive, most important moments in the comic book movie genre - but there is a lot to admire about the noir-soaked exercise in artistry. And, somewhat typically of both the genre and the fact that it was made by a film-maker with more than a foot in the past, A Dame To Kill for is full of the kind of references, Easter Eggs and nods you might expect. So from pointers to the noir genre that gave birth to it, and to wider influences, we're looking beyond the surface of Rodriguez's startlingly good-looking comic book movie noir to comprehensively run down the Easter Eggs, references and in-joked you need to see.
