Skins Star Kaya Scodelario To Play Female Role In Pirates Of The Caribbean 5

The British actress has landed her next major role following The Maze Runner.

After a stellar first instalment, the quality of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies would quickly decline. However, with a haul of over $3.7 billion worldwide in total, Disney aren't going to let this franchise go the way of a sinking ship any time soon! The fifth movie is still very much moving ahead then, with Johnny Depp set to reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and Geoffrey Rush returning as Captain Barbossa. Orlando Bloom€™s Will Turner is also rumoured to make a comeback. New additions include Maleficent star Brenton Thwaites as a British soldier who finds himself working alongside Sparrow, but specific details are sparse, and all we really know for sure is that his character in the movie is named Henry! There have also been reports of Javier Bardem (Skyfall) being in talks to play Pirates of the Caribbean's lead villain, a ghost looking for revenge against Sparrow as he blames him for the death of his brother. It's a pretty impressive cast, and with Kon-Tiki helmers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg at the helm, it could turn the franchise around. The latest addition to the cast is none other than Skins star Kaya Scodelario as the movie's female lead. She had been rumoured for a role, but producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed the news in a Tweet over the weekend. There are literally no other details on who the British actress will play, but this is another smart step in her career after a memorable turn in The Maze Runner helped to put Scodelario on the map overseas. Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is currently set to be released on July 7th, 2017.
