So Hold Up, Ben Affleck Actually IS Directing The Batman

Just maybe don't expect it when it was originally planned.

Counter to several reports emanating from pretty much his own words, Ben Affleck says he actually is directing the upcoming Batman solo film. This comes hot on the tail of rumours that the film might be shunted back after the director star seemed to be wavering on his decision to direct, stating he'd only do it if the script was right.

He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel to set the record straight again and get some stuff off his broad, hulking chest. By the sound of it, he's had just about enough of your sh*t asking him where the film is, what's happening with it and when it's coming:

“I’m gonna direct the next Batman, we’re workin’ on it. It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating because like with Live by Night, it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard, it’s just nobody gave a sh*t. No one was like ‘Where’s Live by Night?!’ But with Batman I keep getting the like, ‘Where’s the f*cking Batman?!’ and I’m like ‘Bro I’m workin’, give me a second!”

That's the unfortunate issue with comic book movie slates, though, isn't it - they plan them so far in advance that deadlines loom large and ominously and the pressure is presumably amplified. But that doesn't really sound like Affleck is on track, or that the film will be coming out in its anticipated original slot.

Who cares though? We get to see a Batman film directed by Ben Affleck. If we have to wait until 2020 for it, I'm game.
