Spider-Man: How Norman Osborn Will Appear In Silver & Black Spin-Off

Will we get to see a new Green Goblin any time soon?

It looks like we won't be getting to see OsCorp or the Green Goblin in a Spider-Man movie properly any time soon, thanks to a report that iconic Spider-Man villain Norman Osborn has a part to play in Sony's spin-off Silver & Black.

Though only Silver Sable and Black Cat have been confirmed so far, it's been widely rumoured that other recognisable Spider-Man characters will appear, with Osborn's role high up in expectations. And now, thanks to That Hashtag Show, the details of his part have been revealed.

Their "scoop" suggests that he will appear in the film in voice only - presumably in conversation from off-screen as he won't appear himself. Instead, his company will be represented by Osborn Chemical Senior Vice-President Charles Standish, who will take a similar role to that played by Rajit Ratha (Irrfan Khan) in The Amazing Spider-Man.

The reason for leaving Osborn out is apparently to allow space for the character to appear in future Sony movies, as well as the MCU. That last point would be somewhat in contradiction of what we've been led to believe about the availability of characters to cross-over, but it at least suggests that Sony and Marvel might get back to the negotiating table to map out further expansions of Peter Parker's time in the MCU.

And if Osborn did indeed debut here and then appear in the MCU, it would be pretty much impossible to suggest that the two universes aren't one and the same.

Gina Prince-Bythewood is currently rewriting the script with production set to start later this year with a release expected for early 2019.
