One of the best superhero movies EVER.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is starting to screen for critics and fans alike worldwide, and at the time of press it's rocking a stunning "perfect" 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with more than 70 reviews to its name.

While that score's likely to take a slight ding in the coming days as more critics post their verdicts, it's nevertheless a ringing endorsement for what is - and it's a damn pleasure to report this - one of 2018's very finest films.

Indeed, Sony got something truly right with Spider-Man here, trusting a ludicrously talented cast and crew to deliver good on one of the most ambitiously-premised superhero movies ever.

Whether you're a card-carrying Spidey obsessive or fairly unmoved by the iconic superhero, though, Into the Spider-Verse serves up an infectiously enjoyable and unexpectedly affecting good time.

If there's any justice in the world, it'll slide past Incredibles 2 and scoop the Best Animated Feature Oscar, but you'd best keep your fingers crossed for that one.

On its own terms, though, this is one of the best movies of its kind in years - that is, both animation and superhero movie - and sets a ludicrously high bar for the incoming influx of holiday releases...
