Spider-Man: Homecoming - 2 More Villains Accidentally Revealed

Shocking news!

Shocker Spider Man

If you were at Comic Con yesterday, you're a lucky lucky devil who got to see both DC and Marvel bring the noise, with particularly exciting reveals for Justice League, Thor Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The latter film saw confirmation of The Vulture as the villain after months of rumours (though not of Michael Keaton playing him, just yet), and now it seems that someone else at Comic Con has accidentally confirmed two more villains.

Unfortunately, that means we're going to see a third Spider-Man movie trying to pull off three villains (after Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2). But if there's anyone who can do it, Marvel can.

So, who are the other two?

Thanks to a leak from a Diamond Select Toys panel, Griffin Newman shared on Twitter that the company are looking to release a full line of tie-in toys also including the Tinkerer and the Shocker:

The panel didn't show any images, and the comment about the two unconfirmed villains was “mentioned offhandedly” as if the panel thought the news was already out. Marvel will no doubt be angry, if it turns out to be true.

Hopefully, the rumour that The Tinkerer will only be a supporting figure to The Vulture is true, and even more hopefully, Shocker will just be an opening act villain. That's the only way to spread those three out rather than attempting to balance them all in the narrative.

Shocker is a great choice, given the fact that he's never been involved before, and while his costume is a little... silly, he's an intriguing figure to use as a secondary villain. And we'd lose nothing in the long-term by seeing him beat up early in Marvel's Spider-Man series.

The Tinkerer also works as a supporting secondary villain who could be behind The Vulture's tech, without needing to take too much focus from the main big bad. So even with suggestions of too many villains destroying the mix, there's an easy way to balance this without suffering the same fate as the other over-stuffed Spider-Man sequels.
