Star Trek 3: 10 Aliens That Have To Appear

10. Balok

balok Thinking back to the title sequence of the original Star Trek series, one image always stuck in my mind €“ Balok, an alien representative of the First Federation encountered in the season one episode The Corbonite Manoeuvre. Wits his large, cat-like, imposing eyes, stretched face and down-turned mouth, Balok looked like a pre-scream version of artist Evard Munch€™s €˜The Scream€™. I would love to see an encounter with Balok, or another member of his race in the new film. With today€™s effects, Balok€™s ship, the mile long, spherical Fesarius, would look amazing, a massive vessel dwarfing the Enterprise. The background to Balok too could provide an interesting storyline €“ in the aforementioned episode the Enterprise made first contact with the First Federation through Balok. This could give us a chance to see Chris Pine€™s Kirk flex his diplomatic muscles. The race themselves never appeared in Star Trek again so that€™s definitely a chance for writers to use the initial concept as a starting block for anew adventure unique to anything we€™ve seen before.
