Star Trek Into Darkness: 10 Plot Rumours We Hope Are True

star trek into darkness 2 Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Khan. Except he isn't. He's playing Gary Mitchell. Well, he's really playing someone called John Harrison, but he has a Gary Mitchell-vibe to him. After all, he can't be Gary Mitchell if he's really playing Khan, right? This is the circle of rumours you will find yourself in if you brave the task of entering 'Star Trek Into Darkness' into Google. Director J.J. Abrams has kept so much of the film's key information secret that not only will it keep us ready to absorb information as the film wants us to (rather than drawing on background information which so frequently happens when you watch a superhero movie) but also means the internet never stops talking and hyping up the film. Then a trailer comes out and just about half the people you know's heads explode because we're finally getting something to sink our teeth into. What, then, are the rumours that we really hope are true? What can't we wait to see once the film finally hits our local cinema screens? Here are the ten best rumours we hope are true and let me assure you, only one of them is related to Cumberbatch's identity. Let's begin with...

10. Another TV Series Actor Will Cameo

W Initially, everyone wanted William Shatner to appear, to which he furiously denied any involvement. In fact, Shatner has since publicly said that J.J. Abrams has been 'greedy' as he has assumed control over both Star Wars and Star Trek. Does this rule out a Shatner appearance? Perhaps, but that doesn't mean we can't get any of the other crew members back in for a quick cameo. Combating this theory is Leonard Nimoy's Spock Prime as this is a canonical appearance of an Original Series actor as his actually character. Bringing in (for example) George Takei as a different character would be confusing as we would ask why he wasn't playing Sulu Prime. Likewise, if Sulu Prime did appear, we would want an explanation not only in-film but also from Abrams as to how many people he's going to send over to the parallel universe. This is perhaps not a likely rumour, but let's admit that we would, in some way, love to see it happen if it did. After all, what's to stop them getting someone from another series?
